About

Introducing the Parent Carer Research Network – a platform to ensure that the voices of Parent Carers are heard and included in research findings.

Researchers aim to represent communities, but often Parent Carers are too overwhelmed to take part, which means their perspectives are missing from research results. But we’re here to change that!

Our platform is just starting out but driven by passion. We want to create a network where both Parent Carers and researchers can gain from working together.

This is a work in progress, but I see two main roles for the network:

  1. Collecting Research Opportunities: The network will gather research opportunities for parent carers and their families. This includes studies that are relevant to parent carers themselves, as well as for their children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). We also want to include ‘regular’ research to acknowledge the diverse experiences of parent carers.
  2. Assisting Researchers in Recruiting from the Parent Carer Community: The network will help researchers connect with and recruit participants from the parent caregiver community.

My hope is that we can establish a network where both parent caregivers and researchers can benefit from working together.
